A slurry pump is a type of pump designed for pumping liquid containing solid particles. Slurry pumps changes in design and construction to adjust to multiple type of slurry which varies in concentration of solids, size of solid particles, shape of solid particles and composition.

There are two types of slurries: non settling and settling. Non-settling slurries are composed by very fine particles of low specific gravity. Settling slurries are usually composed by high specific gravity particles. Both slurries have different abrasion impact on the elements of the pump according to their hardness or shape.
